BOSTON – An all-star roster of Boston Bruins leadership helped score a win for the community today as they share the inside scoop on their organization and entertain questions from Boston’s top business leaders. The impressive lineup appeared at our 10th annual Executive Leadership Breakfast. The breakfast is the first in a series of events this fall that will raise the necessary resources to enable UWMB to address community needs and open doors to social and economic opportunity for individuals and families. The panel featured:
Dale Arnold, host of Sports Radio 850 WEEI’s “Dale and Neumy Show” and voice of the Boston Bruins on NESN, moderated the panel. Also attending the event was Paul Stewart, long-time NHL referee and Director of Development for the Boston Bruins Foundation. Kevin Fitzgerald, of Northeastern University’s Center for the Study of Sport in Society, spoke about the importance of building the assets of young people, particularly their physical well-being. Northeastern’s Center, along with Bruins coach Mike Sullivan, recently partnered with UWMB and other sports stars to teach skills clinics and the importance of staying fit and eating healthy to more than 200 children. The Athlete’s Forum was part of a $1.6 million campaign launched by UWMB earlier this year to promote nutrition and physical fitness resources for Boston-area children. The annual Executive Leadership Breakfast brings together the corporate community each year to support United Way's investments in agencies and programs with proven track records of success on behalf of children, youth, employment and housing. Last year, over $781,000 was raised through this event. This year's breakfast was sponsored by KeySpan Energy Delivery and Accenture.
