 <description>&lt;p&gt;BOSTON -- Eighteen United Ways from across the Commonwealth announced today that they are responding to widespread increases in need by uniting for a new statewide drive to provide emergency assistance for basic needs &lt;em&gt;&lt;strong&gt;this winter&lt;/strong&gt;&lt;/em&gt;.  <title>Entrepreneurial Youth Launch Ventures with the Help of United Way</title>

 <description>&lt;p&gt;BOSTON – United Way of Massachusetts Bay &amp;amp; Merrimack Valley announced today that the organization will be investing $10,500 to give seven teams of entrepreneurial youth the start-up capital they need to inspire their peers, bridge the gap between elders and youth, help the environment and otherwise change the future of their communities. The youth were part of &lt;strong&gt;United Way’s Youth Venture Program&lt;/strong&gt; which inspires and invests in teams of young people, ages 12-18, to start social projects that create positive, lasting change in their communities.

(Cambridge, MA—September 8, 2008) Tsoi/Kobus &amp;amp; Associates (TK&amp;amp;A), Commodore Builders of Newton, and United Way of Massachusetts Bay and Merrimack Valley announced today they will collaborate on a major community build project at Putnam Place, a group home for teen boys aged 16-19 who have aged out of state foster care and are moving towards independence. Run by Cambridge Family &amp;amp; Children’s Service, Putnam Place will receive a renovation estimated to be worth more than $100,000.
